If they are choosing to play in the rain good on them. Must be nice. I would however be careful of the damp/wet floors afterwards, as dampness is a perfect habitat for germs
November 6, 200915 yr Author Thanks Maesie, I've just been down and checked them they seem pretty dry now. We've had a bit of a break in rain so I've given them some greens and shut them into aviary section, it has paved floor. I left blind down to keep that floor dry overnight so it's still quite dry. They really had a ball out in the rain it's the first time they have been out in such heavy rain, mostly my new babies the "oldies" stayed indoors. As long as I don't see any after effects.
November 6, 200915 yr No worries... I know if we have rain coming in the front of the aviary, my birds always sit on the front and get soaked... haha, they must love it!
November 6, 200915 yr Noting wrong with rain.. i agree as Maesie already stated, its very important to not let the birds forage on the wet aviary floor and many bird keepers take every precaution to ensure the aviary floor stays bone dry all year round.
November 6, 200915 yr Author Thanks Liv & Maesie, The actual aviary floor is dry, I left a plastic lined shadecloth blind down all night as usual. Rain would have come in front otherwise so it stayed down. I opened door from aviary to flight, they wait every morning to get out. They shoot out like a flock of racing pigeons and to-day I took the chance and let them out as usual, they had access to aviary but they stayed out for hours in the rain. Like kids playing in puddles I suppose.
