I have bought one of my chicks inside as its mum hadn't fed it since last night and he was looking a bit worse for wear. I have decided to try and hand raise it, but I am not sure how I am going to keep it warm as I have no source of heat for it. Any ideas would be great. By the way the chick is 4 days old so he is a youngster

Do you not have a foster to put it under. It would be very hard to raise a chick from that age. If not, I'd try suppliment feeding whilst returning it back to it's Mum in the hope that she will start looking after it.

Thanks Maesie...I might try that but not sure how it will go as mum has 4 other bigger babies and both times I went out there the parents had pushed the baby right to the other end of the breeding box away from them and the other babies.

Sometimes you find that they stop feeding them for a reason, so it might not be well. If you had another Mum with chicks, you could try putting it in with them. You can also set up a brooder, which provides warmth etc... but I don't know much about them as I have never used them. I also know raising one from so young is tough work. Please let us know how you get on.

I have given him a good feed and put it out with mum and dad again to see what happens, maybe now that it is a bit healthier she will keep feeding it
