Flirting?

I've finally finished quarantining my new budgie, Skye so I have put him in the same cage as Marigold. All of a sudden he has been feeding, preening and singing to Marigold. He hops onto the same perch as Marigold and does all that. She pushes him away and he flies around the cage screeching. I'm starting to think he is in breeding mode and she isn't. I saw him trying to mate with her and she flipped upsidedown on the perch. Is that normal, should I be worried?

he is just a little randy from being isolated. I would let them be and if it doesnt settle in a few days or the hen gets stressed, separate him out again.

I agree with Liv you can also let them be together during the day and then separate at night. There is an article on how to Intro a 2nd Bird in the FAQ's if you would like to review that.

They're fine now. He has settled a bit and since it is so hot today I bought a spraying bottle.

Uh Oh!!

Personally, I find that spritzing them is like having the hen strut around in Victoria's Secret!! :D
