Yesterday my best hen the one in my signature had some kind of turn. I went out to have a cuppa and watch the birds when I saw her on the aviary floor on her side spinning and flipping, my first reaction was to run to her thinking she was caught in something and then I thought a redback bit her as I have had a couple in the aviaries.

I didn't know what to do I put her in a holding cage and she was flipping every where so then put in a show cage so she couldn't hurt herself any more. My first thought was vet but it was 30 plus here and the trip would of killed her, it's over 45minute drive.

I held her and she was much carmer and I managed to get her to drink some water she looked spaced out and when I put her back in the cage because it was too hot to hold her she just laid there like she was dying and then she would start again.

She couldn't stand on her feet.

I rang a breeder with over 30 years experience and he said epileptic fit they get the as we do, said it was from the heat and while talking to him she went all quite so I thought she died and when I hung up went out their and she was fine looked a Little groggy but alive.

So I rang the vet and he said the same as the breeder and with her drinking the water must of saved her anyway if she does again he wants to see her.

She is now in a holding cage with spark for energy replacement and probotic and looking perfect. SO WEIRD BUT WHAT A FRIGHT I GOT as I have never seen anything like it.

If I wasn't home and had gone to work like I was meant to I probably would of lost her.

Has anyone else had anything like this

Yeah, I had a beautiful cock who fitted and died within seconds as I watched him. Fine and vibrant one second and dead the next with no signs of illhealth. Dave has a cockbird who fits when being netted. I think over the years I have had about three like this. Good luck with your hen :(

Thanks Kaz

I hope it never happens againg because the breeder couldn't believe she made it . She is still looking healthy but it is hotter today. Trying to cool everything down.
