Posted October 28, 200915 yr Here I have been busily nailing and gluing half inch by one inch pine on to ply board and so far I have made back and front, wire is in front already. Now I have to cut the sides and top and bottom. AND decide where and how the door is going on What do you think for a lady :glare: not a bad job Inside of The back and I need to drill air holes in yet. Inside of the Front The back and front the way it will kinda look when finished but their just leaning on each over at the moment because there is no side or top yet. Oops but the way my cutting or sawing is a bit wonky but I can't help that, been nagging Greg to buy a saw bench, seem I am becoming a budding little builder Edited October 28, 200915 yr by splat
October 28, 200915 yr Woo HOO !!!! Brilliant You are one clever lady Edited October 28, 200915 yr by KAZ
October 28, 200915 yr Author :glare: yeh well I just got it to show Greg thinking I was so smart and I noticed it's not even square But I hope it still works
October 28, 200915 yr For a beginner you've brilliantly, well done. Who knows what you'll be making if you get that saw bench??? Best of luck.
October 28, 200915 yr Author Thanks Ellkeiremi that's what I think image wood cut straight that's good beginning See I only use a jig saw and Greg uses his cirular saw and he cuts wonkier than me
October 28, 200915 yr I make all my own travel cages and nest boxes etc, and none of mine are square either as i only use a jigsaw What you have done looks fantastic and it will work brilliantly! The easiest door to make is a sliding one. You can buy plastic strip stuff (which i think is used for edging ply and plaster board. that will fit the thickness of ply and creates tracks for a sliding door
October 28, 200915 yr Good looking travel box. I know that we have talked about a better saw than a jig saw for cutting, but it seems to work - just not something you'd want to sell to people as a quality product (that's ours not yours) Oh - and just noticed this is my 100th post! Don't I get a free budgie, or a trip to Europe , or something, now (if for nothing else, other than, good,, coma,,, placement)? October 28, 200915 yr hey where do you buy those thing Liv, bunnings I got mine from the hardware store. they are plastic white strips and i think they are 2.4 meters long and only about $5. I dont really know what its called. Kaz may know as i remember her having some at her place too...
October 28, 200915 yr They are plastic strips used to join thin panel board....very cheap...$4-5 length something like that .........some have double edges for joining two peices of ply and others have one edge...you want the one edge piece. If all else fails...just screw a lid on with the budgies inside and I will unscrew them this end :laughter: I had a piece of that plastic beading nearby...so here it is Edited October 28, 200915 yr by KAZ
October 28, 200915 yr Author Well that did enter my mind :laughter: Really as they wouldn't get out No as you said I am smart so my smart mind will come up with something  It was funny when Greg came homefrom work, I so very proudly showed him handy work and he said with a smirk "what is it meant to be" and I so smartly explained and he said "have you got plans" and I said no just making it up as I go. He chuckled and walked down the back. I don't care wait until the finish product it will talk for it's self :fear at least I hope I should have any of these when I want my brain to work  Edited October 28, 200915 yr by splat

To hot to travel yet but it is ment to cool down Monday Next week Forgot how are you Kaz  Yeah they will fit....best way to travel is to huddle together....less chance of damage, and they are quieter that way. You could travel them to melbourne in a normal cage and transfer them to the box in your car just before air travel I am getting there Feeling flat and feeling tired after all this....a little depressed....Kens dad and mine all in such a short space of time Got back from Geraldton late afternoon yesterday.
November 10, 200915 yr Author Yes Kaz that's mine plan, Show cages, 3 to a cage to Melbourne and then travel cage' I am glad you are okay but it will take time, please look after yourself. Did you have anymore losses with the birds while you were away. Gosh it's hot here can't stand being in this room on the computer sweating like a pig in here, going back in the lounge where the air con is

Lost two at home but ones I knew had issues and would not make it. One I took with me.....died while I was in Geraldton. Ken had earlier omitted to change water in one cage and that bird got sick from contaminated sludge in its water..............so I took it with me to treat it and give it extra care. I am taking a me day today....and leadlight work will have to wait until tomorrow....but I am doing things on the new flights. Edited November 10, 200915 yr by KAZ
