Scrapping Females Amongst The New Birds Today

Featured Replies

I took in three abandoned budgies today...thought to be approx 2 years old and all raised and housed together for that time. Two females and a male. The two females keep scrapping - like beak wrestling..apparently they've always one this???? Is there a way to train them to stop this behaviour? The three of them are in a hge cage so it isn't a territorial thing. My eventual goal is to have them all in one large aviary but this is going to cause some problems. Poor things are a bit of a mess right now as someone has done a real hackjob on the wings of one in particular. Could it be that they are being tempermental due to being not well cared for and then abandoned?

Normally this happens when, and they are "always like this" comments occur due to there being two females fighting over one male.

The fact they are related means nothing. The two females will fight over normal things, but when you have only 1 male, it will be even worse. You should always have an even number of birds.
