Posted October 23, 200915 yr I have an 8 month old blue dominant pied who for some reason has not lost her forehead stripes. She has already gone through her first molt, and the striping still extends all the way down to her cere, and the color of the stripes has not lightened either. My understanding was that budgies lose their forehead stripes after their first molt, so why hasn't she?
October 23, 200915 yr In simple terms, the pied mutation means that anything could happen. It will never lose its strips.
October 23, 200915 yr Author I'm pretty certain she is. She has a band of clear feathers across her belly, a patch of clear feathers on the back of her head, and she has a band of clear feathers across the bottom of her wings. She has all the markings of a pied, so I'm pretty certain she is one. Does this change anything at all? . Edited October 23, 200915 yr by Eloise
October 23, 200915 yr I am thinking that this is simply a dommie pied that has head/face striping, or really heavy flecking. I have one very much like that.
October 24, 200915 yr sounds like a dominant pied with the talk of a band of colour on the body. heavy flecking is possible too. pictures always help tho
