Posted October 19, 200915 yr I think I finally have my head wrapped around pieds (except I still don't know how you tell a rec from a dom...but that'll come) but I don't even know what you folks mean when you talk about a bird being a spangle. Other than that I'd say I've learned a tremendous amount from this group....enough to at least throw enough words around to fake an intelligent conversation about budgies (as long as the other person knew NOTHING about birds...LOLOL)
October 19, 200915 yr Normal Wing Feather Patter Spangle Wing Feather When you look at the bird it looks like someone traced the outside of their wings vs a normal patterned bird has white coloration the spangle has the black/traced marking http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/faqs/i...&artlang=en I hope that makes sense Here are pictures of members' of BBC with Spangled Birds http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9578 Here are pictures of members' of BBC with Normal Pattern Birds http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index.php?showtopic=9580 Edited October 19, 200915 yr by Elly

October 20, 200915 yr The easiest way i found was a simple explanation of the "rule", which you can see very clear in Kaz' pictures. Normal feathering is "Dark edged with light" Spangle feathering is "Light edged with dark" I find that the easiest way to remember

October 20, 200915 yr Author Aaaawe...thanks so much everyone...Now I get it! Armed with my new information I've taken a look at all my birds and I think the new fellow I got today might be a spangle which would make him a yellow faced sky blue dominant pied spangle. I'll ry to get a good picture of him this week (I had posted a picture that was from his previous home a few days ago and found out all the other stuff). Thanks again!
