Posted October 15, 200915 yr hey, i was just wondering whats the difference between a show budgie and a regular one, and what makes a budgie a show budgie?
October 15, 200915 yr There are may differences, but the most notable difference is size. Show budgies have been bred to a certain size and certain characteristics are valued more on the show bench.
October 15, 200915 yr In reality though they are all budgies they are not a different breed, example like a pet say cocker spaniel and then one that is bred for show. I know we have an explanation of it in our FAQ but here is a nice article about the difference and why they are called English Budgies in some regions vs Show Budgies http://petplaygroundstories.blogspot.com/2...mal-budgie.html Edited October 15, 200915 yr by Elly
October 23, 200915 yr This is the difference. Size and feather. The cinnamon grey hen is my best show bird (maybe not as of this year but was at the time of the photo in 2008) and the normal green is a bush budgie. Often pets are the size of bush budgies and show birds are usually as big or bigger than my girl.
October 23, 200915 yr Wow. That puts it in perspective, doesn't it? Like James Bond and the guy with metal teeth.
October 23, 200915 yr WOW Nubbly...what a great visual explaination...really helps in understanding this. I had no idea the size difference was so marked. Those show birds are monsters aren't they??? All the more to love!
