Hi we purchased these two budgies over the weekend and have no idea what sex or type of budgie they

are??? We were told that they were both babies and not long out of the nest!! Never having budgies before

we are unsure as to how old they might even be!! Our children have named the Bob (Blue) and Skye (white) if we have picked the sex wrong i think the sooner we know the better!! Ay ideas :sadsorry:

More pictures please especially clear ones of the cere in natural light ( no flash on camera ).

You seem to have a spangle and a recessive pied.

Due to tiny piks they both look like females right now, but I will reserve my opinion and wait for better clearer pictures. You are allowed to post pictures 480 by 640 on here.

If these aren't clear enough and the wrong size ( I have changed the size through photobucket??) then i'll take some new picture's and i'll have to post them tomorrow when the sun is out?? Just takes me an hour to load one ( dialup + Pre historic comp + Amature = nightmare)..... :sadsorry: They are both lovely but the Blue one is very friendly he/she sits on my finger and shoulder and talks like mad he/she's very noisey.....The other darling sat on my finger and came out of the cage the first two days but now just fly's away and just wants to be in the cage so im not pushing her/him??They look like they are kissing or maybe feeding each other all the time, is this because they are babies??Will they fight when they get older if they are the same sex??So the thought Kaz is - Possibly both female, Spangle for Blue and Recessive pied for white?? Awesome i'll look into that for more info. :laughter:

Would love help on figuring out the sex, age and type of our two budgies.......any ideas???? Thanks

From what I can see here there is a lot of white on both ceres. If that is correct then I say they are both females.

..............and cuties at that

WOW both girls hey??

Thanks so much for all your patience everyone!! :D

Im completely computer illiterate!!!

So a name change for "Bob" is needed then!!

Thanks again.

:D

There is white on both ceres isnt there ? If so, then both girls.

To look at her (name unknown until morning when kids wake?) i guess you could say just around her nostrils is a slight whitening but the rest of the cere is the bluey/purple colour?? and has been since we got her almost a week ago but the recessive pied def has alot of white around top of cere and i dont know if it's possible but it seems to be looking whiter in 1wk??

Could be all this budgie research im doing and looking at pics that has thrown me though?? :D

I bought the Blue one from the canningvale market and the man said it was a young male??? The white one from a lady around the corner who had no idea of sex but said she had just come out of the nest???

Does the cere stay the colour it is now or what age will you know for sure the final colour??

Their Cere's will change to a mature colour as they age if they are both female's the Cere will stay whitw/pale blue when out of condition and when in breeding condition their Cere will be a nutmeg to a dark crusty brown colour.

If they are male their Cere will be pink since it's a recessive pied and Blue for the normal when they mature.

Hope I'm of any help.

Jodie

A wonderful Help... Thanks Jodie!!

Your budgie's do look to be both female to me, but now you know what to look out for.

So true Dave but the kids have named her "Belle" so hopefully the name change wont confuse the little sweety....

As for knowing what to look out for, eveyone has given me some great advice and i have looked at the website to gain more knowledge on our new feathered friends but the sexing thing still confuses me a little...... This whole recessive factor, inseason out of season change etc but im sure in time i'll get the eye for it!!

Once again thank you soooooo much for all your help members. :D
