just asking how old do most budgies have to be to breed and is there a age which is too old?

12 months minimum for breeding. Too old for a female is after she is 4 years....5 years is best to retire a female as she is more likely to suffer eggbinding or prolapse. Males can still breed up to 6-7 years.

i totally agree although i believe males can breed until they basically are not filling eggs or look over the hill

if their all workin it id still try em but i wouldn't buy one older than 4 or 5 at most provided i knew he had been breeding well over his years not just been sitting around i think 4 0r 5 is still worth the risk if good bird and good price
