this is not a complaint but meerly just a query :parrot:

I've got mine in regular cages and I finally got my first egg. I should be getting my second one today.

cool i hope you get it and many more. I've always heard that its best to breed in breeding cages but i dont know

Broadly speaking:

Breeding cages where you seperate them into pairs per cage allows you to control who mates with who and so (assuming you know where your birds came from) you can control their pedigree and the resulting colors (well usually!)

General breeding in their regular cage gives no control over who mates with who and if your birds are from the same stock to start with - you could get some nasty genetic interbreeds. But if they are of mixed stock then you might ha\ave more success with letting them pick their own partners and being more relaxed in their regular surroundings. Just provide plenty of boxes to pick from.

And please - don't interbreed close relatives.

they are in a single pair in one cage, i just thought they had a better succes rate

i was just wondering if breeding cages were better than regular ones :)

Well i used to use regular cages with a high success rate. I'm hoping to get a few breeding cages for my birthday in September though so i can do the whole thing more properly. :)

You can't breed without breeding boxes can you??? :) I didn't think the hen would sit on the eggs?

If you only have one pair of birds in your cage, and it has a door for a nest box, it is for all intents and purposes, a breeding cage. You don't need a specific "breeding cage". As long as it is large enough to comfortably house your pair plus temporarily the young, it doesn't matter what you call the cage. :D
