Looking way into the future but I reckon the above 2 would make a fantastic pairing for next year. She's got dark markings, great wings, shoulder, length and feather. He's got the top end, shoulder and feather. Both very nice.

Don't think so...both parents are greywings. Three differing shades of blue in the nestbox. We shall see what comes of round two.

 

 

I guess it's probably not likely that both parents are split for dilute. I don't know how people tell the difference. It's a good thing I don't have to worry about messing up anyone's show stock. I just lump them all in the same category and call them all "greywings". (That wouldn't be good for show breeders, would it?)

I am sure it is unorthodox .... but in hot weather I pop eggs that are due to hatch into my mouth, give them a good ole lick and pop them back ... :rofl:

That is not unorthodox - sucking eggs is normal. Do you clean the poo off at the same time? :rofl:

Rather you than me ................transferring germs both ways I reckon. Better off spraying the mother or both parents with a misting spray.

Yeah if you do it that way you have to be careful with the temperature ... this way you don\'t

By the time a hen has a fine mist on her and enters the nestbox the droplets of water would be her own body temperature.

If you wanna go suck eggs, on your head be it :rofl: but I'm not

Eek! I'll have that whole "sucking poo off budgie eggs" thing stuck in my mind all day now......

 

As far as the greywings go though, Kaz they are tremendous! And yes a few open breeders breed greywings but not to any great extent and these birds are LOVELY. I always did like that dark green (or is it grey green???) hen.

 

Maybe you could bring her down for me when you visit. I don't breed greywings but then I wouldn't care what she was, she's a beautiful bird.

These guys gave up on their eggs and threw them out, including ones with live chicks in So they will go into the flights tomorrow.

You have come a long way in a short time with your greywings Kaz. I think you under rate your own chances. The beauty of the niche market is that you are not competing with everyone, only a small group. If you bred good greens, blues or greys, then it would be much harder
