Posted October 11, 200915 yr Juliet is currently looking after her three babies along with her partner Romeo. All of a sudden I've noticed this morning she is bobbing her head side to side over and over again and I haven't seen her do that before. Any cause for concern or is she just in a happy dancy mood?
October 11, 200915 yr Author Are the babies still in the nestbox? Yes, the babies are all terrific Edited October 11, 200915 yr by defieldsfamily
October 11, 200915 yr How old are the babies? If they are getting close to the age where they will be coming out of the nestbox, she may be looking to breed again. Some mothers do nto worry about older young in the nestbox, some try to kill their previous young as they see them as "in the way".
October 11, 200915 yr Dave's right she is probably getting ready to breed again, if the babies are old enough put them on the floor with a small box or something for them to huddle into.
October 11, 200915 yr Author The oldest of the three chicks is only 13 days old, then 11 and 9 days old. Ack! I don't want her to breed any more!

The behaviour you described doesnt even sound like it means anything like wanting to breed again. Does she do this when she is with her partner ....maybe to ellicit a feed me response ?

October 12, 200915 yr If they are only that young I wouldn't worry about her some of my hens come out and make all the noise in the world for some attention
