Hen Attacks Baby

Featured Replies

But he seemed to be getting on fine everytime i went near the cage he would jump to the front and I would open the door and he would jump onto mmy hand he loved the attention so I was really shocked he died but at the same time it still could of been the shock from the attack.

I dont think he died from shock or he would have been acting depressed in a corner. I had had chicks like yours after head attacks where they seemed fine for a few days. What I believe happens is there are cracks in the bones of the skull after an attack and the wounds too are deeper than we realise. It seems to take 2-4 days for deep set infection to take over deep within and they die from this. The infection goes straight to the brain.
