Posted October 7, 200915 yr Well I'm planning to go to Japan sometime next year and am planning ahead. I'll be going with my older brother and his mate Dave and I would love to take a budgie with me I relize how stressfull it would be it's just hoestly I don't trust my family. I relize how expendive it would be. But I would be going for quite sometime and I would miss them terribly, my mother too. If it's to much I will just have to suck it up and leave them with my parents and sister. My sister even said to me after I asked her if she'd take care of the budgie's for me. She said "Jodie I can't even take care of a hamster!" so yeah I think you should be able to see where I'm coming from.
October 7, 200915 yr Yikes that is quite a long plane ride, I know it takes a friend of mine at least a day or two to acclimate. Have you looked into Japan's quarantine requirements? Or have you considered setting up daily video chats to check on them while you're gone, instead?
October 7, 200915 yr Hi Jodie, besides being stressful I don't think you can because of quarantine issues I think I spelled that wrong Edited October 7, 200915 yr by splat

October 8, 200915 yr Hi Jodie, I'm sure you can leave detailed dot points with the fam., regards what needs are to be met each day concerning the health of your budgies, but why go to japan when you can come here, pitch a tent out back, and have budgies land on your tent waiting for you to wake up in the morning so they can say hello... get with the program girl...[it's all here] Edited October 8, 200915 yr by Richo
October 8, 200915 yr Author Hi Jodie, I'm sure you can leave detailed dot points with the fam., regards what needs are to be met each day concerning the health of your budgies, but why go to japan when you can come here, pitch a tent out back, and have budgies land on your tent waiting for you to wake up in the morning so they can say hello... get with the program girl...[it's all here] I want to go to Japan because I'm trying to get back into contact with a friend who moved back there 9 years ago and I'd love to meet her in person again, I will do that list thing for them though. It's also something me and my brother have wanted to do for sometime I just was'nt old enough back then.
October 8, 200915 yr Quick answer to your question is yes budgies can travel on planes with no ill effect at all. Now your problem is that can you take your budgie! Your personal info says your are in England. You will need to check with your local agricultural department or whoever administers the regulations with regards to exporting. Even if you can take your bird out of the country you may not be allowed to import into another. If you are simply going for a short time I would advise trying to find a friend or local breeder willing to look after your bird while your away.
