Posted October 7, 200915 yr The 5 babies are still having fun in the cage together, including rolling around on their backs with an old foot toy. They all roll, but I can NEVER get a still photo of this! They see me come close with the camera and that's it. But today at least I grabbed a quick video, spliced it with another short clip. I'd made them a hanging toy with a wicker ball at the bottom; well Colbert managed to tear off the ball and then drag it around the cage. Watch it here.
October 7, 200915 yr Wow, Kate, what a great video! I've never seen one roll on it's back like that. They look like they are a lot of fun.
October 7, 200915 yr I LOVE it!! What a gorgeous baby! I love the little legs up in the air when he's on his back and struggling to get himself upright again. They're not unlike real human babies are they!! Fabulous little video!! I had to watch it over and over! Thank you for making me smile!!
October 7, 200915 yr Thanks for the video. They look like they are having heaps of fun. I like the cover around the cage base. I like that it keeps the area tidy, but the fact it is semi-transparent is a good feature. Did you buy that or make it?
October 7, 200915 yr Author They are a blast to watch—for me, And the mom and dad, who are in a separate cage. Sometimes, before I know it, there's something burning on the stove.... THK, can you imagine if they all talked like Charley though! Dave I didn't make that, it's store-bought from a nearby bird store, and it came in other translucent colors and smaller, shorter sizes. I just found it online for $US, hope you can find in Australia. Google "mesh birdie bloomers"; although that isn't the brand I have it's the same thing. I found for the babies' flight cage the seed was still coming out the bottom as the tray is not enclosed, so I did have to make a short rectangular pouch with a hem around the edges (to come up about 2 inches from the bottom) and slipped a cord through the hem to pull it tight.
October 8, 200915 yr Thanks for the video. They look like they are having heaps of fun. I like the cover around the cage base. I like that it keeps the area tidy, but the fact it is semi-transparent is a good feature. Did you buy that or make it? Dave, I have made a couple of those. (Well, finished one. As I don't really like to sew, the 2nd is still in pieces.) I suggest that the next time you are out buying nail polish and makeup sponges, that you stop by the fabric store to pick up some tulle! :ohmygod: Edited October 8, 200915 yr by Finnie
October 9, 200915 yr So adorable I've never seen a budgie roll on its back before and it must be so cute to watch!
