Hen About To Lay After Cock Mated With Her

Nearly two days ago I put my breeding pair George and Lumina back together without a nest box, I did this simply because Lumina look a bit down in the dumps not sick just a little depressed. And as soon as George entered her cage she arched her back and they mated several times then eventually she got fed up with George and began attacking him because he was constantly wanting to mate. So I ended up sepperating them, she is as happy as ever now. But I've noticed this morning large poops and egg butt, she's going to lay and I am wondering on the fertility.

I dont really want her to have any more chicks because she had a large clutch of six this april and last october she had a clutch of four. I know there's only a possiblity of one chick which I wouldnt mind. But I don't want to just throw the egg away after she lays it. It would kill me if it was fertile, I'd also carry it with me everyday that there may have been life in it....

I just checked on her, she's deffantly going to lay.

Will she sit on the egg?

Should I give her a box or somthing to lay in?

These questions sound very ameuture-ish

Jodie two days doesnt make an egg. Depression isnt exactly a budgie emotion...it does however indicate illness or a health issue.

I don't understand what you mean, because I thought budgie' s mated then two days later they lay an egg.

I took a picture of her just seconds ago

Not two days later.....she may have already been doing her egg thing on her own before you put them together.
