Beautiful Boofer

My beautiful budgie died while I was on holiday so I didn't even get to say goodbye. She did have a lot of medical problems but was still active. At night I'd sneak down to check on her, and if she had gotten worse I'd take her to my room and sit her on my hot water bottle to warm her up in my bed. I'd give her a drink too. She often fell asleep and if the illness passed I woud take her back to the cage to be with her friend. When her illness threatened to take her life I was always there for her and she always lived but I was on holidays that time so she didn't have a hot water bottle. I hope she didn't suffer. I bought her off a filthy breeder. He didn't tell me his name or anything, just sold me a couple of sick birds for $40 and told me to bung them in with my flock straight away. Well I wasn't as experienced as I am now so I didn't realise they were sick until it was too late. Only 2 birds survived. Boofer, the now deceased and Marigold. Now I only had 2 birds I could train them easily, or so I thought. Marigold I finger trained easily but I had no idea how to train Boof, at least until I had her out one night. I was in my dressing gown. Boof crawled up my sleeve and down around my front and sat there. From then onwards I trained her using my dressing gown. She often sat in the crook of my arm with my other arm wrapped around her. Once i had to take her to the vets because her leg swelled up with a ring on it. In the waiting room the vet brought her out in a box, I lifted up the lid and she ran for me and I cuddled her even though there was a cat about a foot away from her. I feel so empty without her, like the brightest thing is missing. Before she came my sky was dark with little points of reason. When she came it was like a shooting star had come over the sky and everything was lit up. Now she's gone and I can't see the reason anymore, my eyes just can't ajust. If I ever, ever get my hands on that filthy -------- breeder again he's going to get what's coming to him!! :D

I'm sorry about your little Boof she must have been special.

She was. She was fat when I got her and she had scaly mite and a problem with her wing and a swollen leg and raggy tail feathers but I really loved her. It's just hard knowing I won't see her again.

how sad :yuck: You're not in Perth are you?

I also know a scumbag breeder in Perth (Hamilton Hill I think he's in) who I would stay away from

No, I'm not in Perth. Out of all of the birds that the breeder put up for sale Boofer was the healthiest.I hate to think what he would have done to Boofer if nobody had bought her, she was useless for breeding.

:) this is what that breeder deserves grrrr

I agree. Think what happened to the other birds he was selling, Boof was the healthiest there and I'm starting to think she died from megabacteria. :hi:
