Posted September 30, 200915 yr Hi, I'm new to the sight . I have 2 beautiful birds. I bought one only yesterday because while I was on holiday one died when a friend was looking after her . Anyway, I keep the birds outside in a huge cage and I'm planning on breeding them. The hen is a wild type green and the cock is a lovely shade of blue with a hint of violet and a white face. The hen's name is Marigold, after the flower and I haven't got round to naming the cock yet though I'm playing around with 'Cosmo'. Any suggestions?
September 30, 200915 yr Welcome. THere is tons of information on our site along with awesome members with excellent advice. You said, you bought a new bird yesterday? Do you have this new bird seperated from the existing bird? Meaning in a different cage and a different room? It is very important to do a 30 day quaratine when you bring in new birds into your existing flock or bird, we have information on why and articles in our Health Section and in our FAQ's. If you did quarantine that is awesome if not I would start today. As for breeding we have a wonderful section on breeding and members who know the ins and outs so I would focus on learning about breeding the pitfalls and the positives before you get started along with making sure the 2 birds you have are of correct breeding age. Again, much of this information is found in our FAQ section. Again, welcome.

October 1, 200915 yr Hi Elly, thanks for the advice. Do you have any tips for breeding them? Breeding must wait until the bird is both quarantined and acclimatised to your space. Couple of months.

Couple of months. I'm quarantining him now but I've got everything set up and I know about egg-binding and the diet and stuff like that.
