My First Budgie

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

I've got my first budgie. Am very exited  but I'm not sure what mutation is my budgie. Also the petshop staff says it's too young to determine the sex of the budgie.

Can anyone tell me the mutation and the sex of my budgie ?

Thanks.... :budgiedance:

You have a gorgeous recessive pied skyblue looks like. But if you have used a flash on the camera its hard to get the right shade of blue and also9 hard to determine sex. A natural daylight photo.......clear ones of the cere will help us to help you sex the bird. By thye first photo it looks female but if you used the flash on the camera that could be throwing the colours out a bit.

thanks Kaz :budgiedance: ....budgie is still a bit nervous. it took me a long time before i managed to get a photo which is not blury. i'll try to take some more photo of the cere in normal light in a few days time once the budgie is settled down.

havent got a name for the budgie yet as well....still pondering over some names atm.

Well, either wait till the sex is determined or choose a unisex name. I like the name Kobi :budgiedance:

no I don't think this is normal. Watch him is about all I can say but there are others that will be able to tell myou more.

I love your birdie. please let us know what you name it.

Yeah I would say a skyblue. and I am finaly getting the hang of all this mutations ect......... To my unexperienced eye it looks like a female?

I have named the bird Schyler (pronounce as s-ky-ler). Skye for short name  .

Taking it if it's a female, she's not breathing through her mouth that often anymore. I guess she's just terrified from the first few days home. She now talks and sings when I turn on the tv. She's still afraid when I put my hand inside the cage. Guess I will have to gain the bird's trust.
