Posted September 19, 200915 yr THought I'd share a short clip of Charley chatting away to himself. Some of it is just "idle chatter".. (his warming up phase!) and towards the end you should be able to understand what he's saying. He includes "goodbye Charley, see you later".. and of course his favourite "Charley's a bad bad boy"!! He has also learnt (but wouldnt say it here!!) "its the poleeees!!" and I'm teaching him to string "run Charley run!!!" in front of it!! ! (I work in a police station and he comes to work with me everyday) He's got the "its the police" bit but still needs to get the whole sentence (he's very good at sentences.. he says in one breath "good morning, you look nice today!"). Hopefully when he gets it together he'll let me film him! Maybe this will work... Edited September 19, 200915 yr by thk
September 19, 200915 yr Charley is a very talented budgie... my jaw dropped when I heard him say, with perfect intonation, "Charley's a bad, bad boy"! Please post more videos when you can!
September 19, 200915 yr Author Thank Sootie. He speaks in my voice (kind of!). Has spoken right from the start when I used to ask him "what are you doing?" he mimicked it within a few days. Problem is he never shuts up. He chats like that all day! Try these, they are some of his earlier ones. They always makes me smile!
September 19, 200915 yr He is such a cutie! I showed my boyfriend and refused to believe it was Charley talking! lol
September 19, 200915 yr Those are absolutely fabulous! :budgiedance:  They made my day. Thank you soooo much for sharing them!
September 19, 200915 yr I've never heard such clear enunciation from a budgie before. Charlie's the man!!
September 20, 200915 yr Try these, they are some of his earlier ones. They always makes me smile! Watched them all, he is so polite! Does he call out to the birds outside frequently?
September 20, 200915 yr Author Watched them all, he is so polite! Does he call out to the birds outside frequently? Funny enough he has never taken an interest in other birds or their sounds. I expected him to copy the magpies song as they used to sit close by and sing, but he seems to only have ears for my voice. Perhaps he just doesnt hear them as he's always too busy chatting, never shuts up long enough to listen to the birds outside! Every now and then for a few minutes he'll do that loud annoying budgie squawk though, just to remind us all that he is a budgie.... usually when a boss is trying to listen to a phone call (Charley's cage sits on my filing cabinet in the office during the day!), I sometimes have to rush to the cage, hold my hand up and quietly yell "STOP IT!" Embarrassing!
