i was wondering if i could use a normal house hold lamp to hand rear a baby bird and keep it warm and what age should i hand rear the bird

a normal lamp will not usually give out much heat and 40 watts is the best.

you could cover the cage with a towel or something like that to retain the heat as well keeping light out :D
