Moving Breeding Pairs

Featured Replies

Would it interrupt my two breeding pairs to move them from a room inside the house to outside? In terms of distance, it's only a few feet to the left, but I know that would make a difference to the birds considering their whole surroundings would change. They are both laying eggs but nothing hatching etc yet for a few weeks.

If I cover the cage and then move them, or even wait til it is dark, would they be calmer and accept the move more readily? Or can I just take the cage and move it outside and leave them, and they wouldn't abandon their eggs?

Thanks for any advice.

Alright, so if it isn't absolutely necessary I shouldn't do it then..

Thanks. :)

I think there is a chance that the change of scenery might confuse them and scare them out of breeding mode, no matter how smooth and stealthy the transition.

If its not urgent, i would delay the move until after breeding. Theres enough possible problems with breeding without adding to it!

I have often moved breeding cabinets with no abandonment of eggs.
