Normal Texas Clearbodies will always have more suffusion than and Opaline Texas Clearbody. You can reduce suffusion through selective breeding with Ino's and Lacewings. Suffusion is a natural occurance in this variety.

I agree that the normals will have a bit more suffusion than the opalines. However, I don't think that inos (in particular Lutinos) and lacewings provide the answer. Breeders of these varieties are always trying to increase the depth of colour in their birds. They do this by adding dark factor to, and eliminating grey factor from the mix. Dark factor is not wanted in clearbody breeding as it increases the body colour and the lacewings and Lutes mask the presence of the dark factor which makes it risky using them. My advice would be to breed them to albinos that are bred through greys and grey normals. With lacewings you will get some crossing-over of the sex chromosome which means you will occasionally breed cinnamon clearbodys. Check out http://www.euronet.nl/users/hnl/sexchrom.htm for a good description of crossing over during meiosis

For what it is worth, I would be reluctant to cull on variety. The baby on the left looks to be decent quality, possesing shoulder and brow. It is easier to fix variety problems than it is to breed good type. Your budgies - your choice.

Cheers, PT

You are allowed to post pictures on BBC of a size 480 by 640 at least two sizes bigger than the ones you are posting :emoticon112:

thank you to everyone for advice and links i will have a lot of reading have had quick look very imformitive and helpful

unfortanually i have let the babies still go as i gave my word and its my bond

i work on old fashioned values so couldnt reneg on it they were happy anyway and im still learning

maybe before i cull next i should get yous to cast your eye over for me if you wouldnt mind

i have never heard that my birds have good qualities before chookbreeder so thank you for that

i was stoked cheered me up anyway

this is the babie out of the texas nest would you identify it for me please i think i have another double factor spangle if it is its my second yay

Ghazzigh, if the parents are both clearbodies, then it is most likely that it is a Lutino. The cock bird is probably split ino and if so the lutino will also be a hen. The parents would have to be spangle clearbodies for the baby to be a double factor.

:D ooh now im confused because i dont think the mother and father are spangle clearbodies shes in top photo would she be called a spangle clearbodys

father has identical markings to her back and the baby it has black eyes and my yellows all have red exept the only yellow factor boy i have and he hasnt bred hes been locked up with a yellow hen i brought so far nothing

i do have lots other spangles down and will have to have a look to see if i fostered any eggs off them for some reason but i wouldnt of thought i would put it in my texas box i have 7 pairs down with fostered eggs and none of thier own eggs poor birds :D so would of put it in one of thiers but i am always doing strange things might of got mixed up i do try to keep the varietys i think i know seperate

If you are fostering eggs, there is a big chance it's a DF Spangle,if you have spangles,in breeding boxes. :D
