Posted September 13, 200915 yr I went to a sale night on Friday night wanting to get another pair of show budgies...which I did. I want pair of cinnamons. I got a opaline green/yellow pied hen and a light green normal cinnamon cock. The cock is on the bottom of the cage most of the time pacing front and back...I have never seen this behaviour continuly before....He is an 2008 bird...just wondering id he could be a dud so to speak. He doesn't seem too dominate Any sugestions on if this is okay or Not!!! Thanks
September 13, 200915 yr my budgie did that once but i think it was just getting really excited or had that burst of energy
September 13, 200915 yr Its because the budgies you just bought have been taken from a large space...........i.e. AVIARY....and are now in a cage.
September 13, 200915 yr Author Hey Thanks for the replys, I didn't think of that...him being taken from a large space!!! then he should settle down soon right??...or continue his burst of energy!!! LOL
September 13, 200915 yr Hey Thanks for the replys, I didn't think of that...him being taken from a large space!!! then he should settle down soon right??...or continue his burst of energy!!! LOL Should settle down in a few days assuming your cage isnt too tiny :emoticon112:
September 13, 200915 yr He might feel a little bit more secure if you cover a corner of the cage with a cloth where he can hide. He is frightened and he is desparate for a way out of the confined space. He will adjust in a reasonable sized cage but it is not nice to watch.
September 13, 200915 yr Also peg the doors shut. Birds doing JAILBREAK BEHAVIOUR try to get out of the sliding doors usually.
September 13, 200915 yr Author ..... The cage is those metal flight cages which can be divide into two...they have the whole cage though so not confined at all, I'm against small cages even for breeding. He has settle down now and noticed him even late in the arvo whens its not that hot him on the perch with his wings open apart as they do in hot weather, none of my others are doing it. but will peg and cover the cage side and see. Thanks
