Featured Replies

Hi All,

The first picture is what I started out with, hubby and I wanted them to have more room, so this is what we came up with....

They have heaps more flight room and seem a lot happier, not completed yet there are a few more final touches, but I am really happy with how it's turned out.....not to mention I can have more birds now!! :D

I would really like to put sand at the bottom...but if it rains it will get quite wet....the extension has a proper roof....I think I would have to enclose it a bit to protect from the rain and I don't really want to do that....so for now I'll stick with the newspaper...

That is really cool :emoticon112:

I dont understand about the sand getting wet thing though. Any wetness in a cage can cause coccidiosis when mixed with droppings........whether its sand or paper. You really need for the cage area to NOT get wet at all.

That's a very innovative extension! ~ Well Done! :emoticon112:

Thanks Kaz, yep understand that 100%, I didn't really explain properly....I was meaning is that we still have some final touches to do, whether we move it under the pergola more or erect an awning, I have thick plastic drops that cover the entire "outside" flight for when it does rain, but no doubt a bit of water would still get in - especially if we had a storm.... I was meaning at the moment it's easier for me to change paper than to change sand if that was to happen until we decide what we are doing...

That looks great as for the new flight, I would not put food in there and then you don't have to worry to much about it getting wet. :emoticon112:

But if you put food in you do need the keep the food dry.

Hi

Thats a cracking flight cage

I just can't get over the fact that you use metal instead of wood

it must cost a fortune but in the long run i can see why you have to do so

some nasty white ants :reading:

my new birdroom is a 14x7.6 feet wooden shed

i gotta make a thread of my own but now i need to do some budgie paperwork

keeping up with chicks hatching and being rung make life much easier
