Posted September 8, 200915 yr Sorry to be posting this in a budgie area but I have heard that you people can be very helpful. I've owned my lorikeet for eight years now and she has just hatched her first chick. My concern is that while she seems to be keeping her warm (I'm actually unsure whether she is just hanging out where she usually does or conciously doing so but anyway) I'm not sure she knows how to feed the chick. So my question, do parental instincts tend to come as a full package in birds or can they be say, good at keeping the chick warm but fail to do anything beyond this such as feeding? I'm such a hen. I'm stressed out we might lose this chick, give me comfort!!
