Photos Of My Birds!

Hi, I am not new to budgies but new to breeding them, I have had budgies for some time but have never really been interested in breeding them, but since my mum starting her breeding back up after not doing for over 6 years, I have been extremely interested so I have decided to pair up some of mine and begin breeding with them. I have also, over the last few weeks been researching all about budgie color genetics and mutations, I think I am slowly getting my head around it all but I know I still have a lot to learn. I have got some colony birds but then also some in breeding boxes, currently I have got 5 hens sitting on 5 or more eggs and about 3 or 4 more hens looking like sitting. I have posted some photos of my budgies for people to look at.

Hi Tonilee

welcome to the site

I started this year colony breeding , do your self a favour DON'T as it is too heart breaking to see the chicks that have been killed by other birds , I have just gone through it yesterday and lost 5 chicks and I have put my other birds in breeding boxes .

But that is only my opinion but I know a lot of others on this site agree with me .

Your birds are all beautiful by the way.

Ross

Thanks for the tips, I am only learning that's why I came on here so you lovely people can help me out:) I have majority of them in breeding cages. I have 4 other aviarys, I have got 3 pairs in 2 of the cages, and 2 pairs in each of the others, I supply each cage with redgum logs and breeding boxes and always have more nests than pairs of birds. A lot of the birds shown are not bred from and are not going to be bred from some will be sold as I have a great deal of males without partners. I havn't had any chicks hatch out in the aviarys yet so I am not sure what is going to happen but for the moment they seem settled so I will leave them be for now, but if my chicks get attacked by another bird I will certainly take your advice and seperate them all.Thank you all again for your comments and advice :)Also would anyone like to help me out with some of the colors as I am only just learning about the genetics and mutations. :)
