I am just wondering what way you all clean out the poop in the nest boxes as I have 1 with 7 babies in it and it badly needs a clean out.

Have an icecream tub or small bucket with shavings or nesting materials in it. Get the mother to go into the breeder cabinet. Remove chicks to the other container. Remove soiled bedding/nesting materials. Replace with new bedding and replace chicks. If you use a concave and thats all poopy use a paint scraper or similar to remove the build up and replace.

Its added to nesting materials really, not only seed in there.

I find best nesting materials to be.......( no particular order )

1. flaky bran ( available from most bird supply shops )

2. rolled oats ( porridge style, full sized or quick oats )

 

Both kinds edible, Keeps nestboxes dry and clean :rofl:

if you have a dippy thingo I use just a regular breakfast spoon to scrape it out.

I cleaned it out this afternoon and put some oats in the bottom and a hand full of seed , the babies are all doing great .

I use removible "Dippy Thingos" they are easy to soak in bleach.

i use a scraper on my "dippy thingos"
