Posted August 24, 200915 yr What would be the coutcome of this pair? Im not even sure of what color mutation the yellow is. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3478/385313..._6d7180f5e8.jpg Edited August 24, 200915 yr by Whoknew
August 25, 200915 yr Well it is a little hard to tell Exactly what they are due to the small photo and back of birds only but they are both dominant pieds. One is an opaline cobalt dom pied and the other looks to be a cinnamon yellow face sky or cobalt (can't really see) dom pied. 2 Dom pieds will give you 25% chance normals, 50% chance single factor Dom pied, 25% chance double factor dom pied. 2 and YFblue will give you 50% chance normal blues 50% chance YFblues. Am thinking that the YFblue is the hen and as she is cinnamon all male babies will be split for cinnamon, unless the cock bird is split for cinnamon himself. As the cock is also opaline all hen babies will be opaline and all cock babies will be split for opaline.

Sorry that was rather a large typo...... What I meant to say was 1 blue and 1 yf blue together gives you 50% chance normal blues and 50% yf blues..... The picture helped..... sort of....... she is a yf blue but I still can't tell if she is skyblue, cobalt (sky I think) but definitely a yf dominant pied (she might be a double factor dominant pied too - in which case all babies from this pair will be dominant pied. If you get any normal babies then she is only single factor dominant pied). After looking at both pics I am now not sure that the hen IS cinnamon - might just be the pictures. Are her markings (stripes on head and neck) brown in colour or are they grey?

Are her markings (stripes on head and neck) brown in colour or are they grey? It turns out that her stripes are a grey color. What I am trying for are some YF blues from this pair. If I would get YF blues, what would the blue color look like in their bodies? ( spread out, pied looking, or?) Does double factor mean that the babies will basically all look like her, kind of patchy? Her color isnt really blue, its actually green looking.
August 27, 200915 yr Sorry Whoknew I'm not on here all the time just sporadically. Yes you should get some proprotion of YF blues - 50%. If you said her colour is green then most likely she is a YF blue not a YF grey as the yellow suffusion on the body of the bird turn their blue and aqua colour. Dominant pieds generally look like the cock with lots of body colour and a few ground colour (white or yellow) patches. Double factor dominant pieds have much more ground colour showing through (more of their body colour is "pied out"). Normal birds don't have the white patches on their wings and body. Have a look through this topic for Pics of Members Dominant Pieds and Pics of Members Normals for comparison. Her markings being grey might indicate that she has some other variety tucked away there too - possibly greywing....... Edited August 27, 200915 yr by nubbly5
