well,well,well.

today i went to the annual swbc auction.

i got the pleasure of meeting and getting to know renee and kaz, and renee introduced me to other people of the club. i got to meet nubbly5,budgiebum and nana :D. the breeders there to me are very inspiring and seem willing to help me with my budgies in thee future too and are all very nice :D I signed up to the club as a junior and i ordered coded rings with DB on them :)

now, renee and kaz, i have to give another thanks to you guys :) , all of them are very nice and i look forward to breeding them :) the birds are happy chaps and are in quarrantine. here are the birds.... all 7 of them are very special to me so i decided to give them names:

Snickers- a very handsome grey spangle split recessive pied from kaz

Alouetta- from kaz, a nice recessive pied hen

a preetty budgie named Keiko from renee. she is a greygreen cinnanom dom pied

P1010335.jpg

a stunning cock also from renee. he is a nice size too and is a light green opaline. his name is Chipper

kaz bought me this handsome budgie there and he is from henry george line. a grey normal cock named Twix

also the other two i got

grey green normal. i bought this one for fifty dollars of a nice chap there as no one bought during the auction and i liked him because of the head width. his name is cullen (from twilight)

and the same nice person didnt wont to bring his birds back home so he said i could have this yf as well for the 5o dollars i gave :)

so, it was an awesome day and i got to meet many new people ( and join a club). thanks again to you guys :) im another step closer to becoming a proper budgie breeder.

p.s renee, could you please give me the link for the recepie you were talking about on the forum... soft food? :)

You have taken some beautiful pictures of your birds........and it was so great meeting you today and your Mum and brother.

SOFT FOOD MIX FOR BUDGIES

1. Chop up 3 CARROTS, add to Blender

2. Chop up 2 APPLES, add to Blender

3. Set Blender to 1 and blend for 1 minute, or until mixed well

4. Add 3 heaped Tablespoons of MILK POWDER or MUSCLE XL or WHEY POWDER

5. Add 2 sprigs of MINT, a handful of PARLEY, and BASIL

6. Set Blender to 1 and blend for 1 minute, or until mixed well

7. Tip mixture into large bowl

8. Add 1 cup of SUNFLOWER SEEDS, mix in thoroughly

9. Add 4-5 cups of HULLED OATS, mix in thoroughly

:)

That basically does all my birds but you'd need to make just a little bit of that to do all your birds, so maybe divide by 4- or make that amount and keep it in the fridge.

what have you taght your birds kaz?

the other day alouetta was STICKING HER HEAD OUT OF THE CAGE VIA THE DOOR..... i had it pegged properley, but she managed to take it off 3 times and lift the door up....my brother heard them and ran out to save the day...apparently Snickers was standing guard... lol they are allright and still in the cage.

talking about escapees... in my avator there is a budgie sticking his head out of a ahole in the wireP1010313-1.jpg

.

Well, my baby DF spangle,

P1010244.jpg

decided it was funny to escape. i was outside then and i saw a yellow (i supposed then it was a lutino) baby budgie hanging around... i wet it with the hose but it flew off... and the last time i saw it it was getting chased by a crow :ohmygod:

And the moral to the story is - SAFETY DOOR to your breeding area

That way if they escape the holding cage/breeding cabinet they don't keep on flying onwards and upwards into the big blue sky (full of hungry hawks, crows and magpies)

well today i spent about a hour and a half sorting nout my birds.... those i wish to keep, those i want to sell and the few i would offer to my family. very tough decision thorughout the whole thing. with the pet types i only want to breed for colour, mainly rainbows, so i kept the ones which had a bit of a mixture of varities in them...obviously i kept all my showtypes to, including bushbug and boofy who i havent mentioned in this thread but in others before..i thinklol (FYI bushbug is a very large light green normal and boofy is a greygreen opaline) well anyway i have 16 budgies for sale.... going to be advertised in the newspaper. so i have 5 for family and about 25 budgies for my own....its very empty in the avairy now...

if anyone is interested in my budgies for sale, they are pet types ages ranging to very young babies (2 months) to 2 yrs old.. boys and girls and there is a very great mixture of colours.....PM me if you would like

Daniela....do a for sale in our budgies for sale section and add some photos :D
