The Story So Far

Hi All my feathered friends

just thought I would do a journal of what has been happening so for with this being year 1 at the moment I have 19 birds with 8 nest boxes , I had 12 nest boxes but nobody used the other 4 so I have removed them as they were above the others .

at the moment I have 1 box with 4 babies and another 4 on the way , the next box has 7 eggs 1 box with 5 eggs and 1 with 3 eggsI had to remove one of the other hens as she wanted the box with the babies so I put her and her mate in a breeding cabinet that Dave Mc Minn gave me and they seem as though they are ready to nest .

Now before you all ask I will try to get photos of the pairs when I can get the birds to stay still enough , but hey birds will be birds in a aviary so they won't stay still and the only pics I have been able to get are either through the wire or out of focus .Ross

Here is a couple of the pics I have.

Hi there, did you just start breeding or have you been breeding for while? I have just started breeding, but in an aviary.

Hi yes I just started this year but due to fights I have gone over to cage breeding I have lost all the babies so far out of this box.

I thought I would up date what has been happening

I now have 2 babies out of the nest and I expect another in a day or so .

I have 3 other boxes with eggs in so I will have to keep an eye on them .

The 2 birds that I want to breed I have had no action out of them since I put them in the breeding boxes , so I will just wait and see , they have only been in the box about 3 weeks .

I will put up some pics tomorrow .

Ross

That's annoying when there is no action, I would take them out to refresh them and try again in afew days Ross B)

i would agree with this no action by three weeks no thickening no eggs

let them fly for two weeks and then re try she may find a partner she will just lean down for right up it happens

depends if you just want babys or you doing special mutation choices
