Height Of Cabinets From Floor?

What would be the minimum height you would keep breeding cages from the floor? Can they be kept at floor level and does having them too low have an effect on their breeding? I'm not concerned with whether it's ergonomically safe for humans (i.e. bending over, back problems etc.), just if it has an effect on the birds.

I would have mine a minimum of 8-10 inches above floor level. Reason............possible rodents, insects and temperatures from the floor.

Yeah, me too! I

I have put my breeding cabinets on castor rollers and then stack them one on top of the other. Mind you I have doubles so it's easier to do that.

Here's how I glued them onto the bottom:

Here's a bank of six ..... they're very old but my budgies breed very well in them!

Do you think the budgies dislike being so close to the floor?

I dunno, you'd have to ask them!

As Kaz said, it's important to have a reasonable gap between floor and cabinets due to pest danger ....

The ones up higher, breed better in my opinion. I always put my best birds up the top and rank them down to the bottom levels. My lowest cabinet is only 2-3 inches from the floor, but they are breeding just fine down there too. The main thing is light and ventilation. It can get quite dark and dusty for the ones down the bottom row.

I haven't found that at all, but once again I think it's due to the Arcadia lighting I have and it does still light up half of the bottom cabinets .... as for ventilation, again it depends how your breeding room is set up

Bottom cabinets do get less light and less light means less inclination to breed. Even though Renee raves about her arcadia lighting she still has half the light conditions I have in my birdroom. Floor level isnt good for a few reasons as stated.

I have mine about a food off the ground and they seem to take that fine! my main probs are the rodents
