Greywing is a recessive gene, so you need two greywings to get greywing young.

 

Spangle to non-spangle pairing will produce 50% spangles, 50% non-spangles.

 

What body colour is the greywing?

 

Blue greywing to blue spangle will result in:

 

50% spangle blues/greywing

50% normal blues/greywing

 

Green greywing to blue spangle will result in:

50% spangle green split to blue and split to greywing

50% normal green split to blue and split to greywing

 

There are multiple other combinations if you have a green that is split to something else.

You can only get YF if you know is carrying YF. Greens normally have a yellowface but this does not mean they are yellowface budgies.

True but not entirely, you need 2 greywing genes but not greywing budgies to get greywings. Because greywing is a recessive gene you can also use a budgie that is SPLIT for greywing meaning he is carrying the greywing gene but is not a greywing. So example: You can have a Normal budgie split to greywing and pair it with either another budgie split to greywing OR a Greywing Budgie and you have a chance of getting greywings.

 

What body colour is the greywing? There are 2 types of body color in a greywing. The first is the Greywing Budgie and the body color is 50% diluted either green, blue or grey OR there is the Fullbodied Greywing where the body is bright but the wings markings are grey.

So the body colour is green. That is what I asked and that is what was answered.
