Posted August 15, 200916 yr I have 4 budgies split into 2 cages currently. Cage 1: Cock + Hen (not trying to breed them) Cage 2: 2 Cocks Cage 2 today converted to a much larger cage on wheels. Cage 1 is smaller and i'd love to move the male + female from 1 into the larger cage 2 with the 2 boys. So my question is, will the 3 males hammer her and constantly try to mate with her? As it is now, I've had this boy and girl together for almost a year and i've only witnessed mating once that entire time, and that was a long time ago now. They seem to have a "just friends" relationship going! So I know that boy is fine with her, but the others might get a bit excited if i put her into their cage. Note that i am not trying to breed at all, these are all just pets. The cages have no nesting locations or material (yes i know that doesnt stop a budgie though!) I dont have space for 2 very large cages and i'd love to just have the 4 of them in the one cage - but not if they are going to harass the hen constantly. Any opinions on this?
August 15, 200916 yr You should be fine putting them all in together. Be very sure you have nothing that resembles a great nesting place ( just in case she likes one of the other boys ). No large food dishes, no snuggle huts etc and you should be fine
