Posted August 12, 200916 yr I have two young hen(10 months old) And when ever I approach their cage and bend down to get a better look they both arch their backs with their heads in the air and make high pitched noises at me. Do they want me to mate with them? Is so why am not a budgie nor am I male for that matter. They are so strange A picture of Toshiro doing the behaviour
August 12, 200916 yr Author So they want me to mate with them? Wow akward...Maybe I'll get them a cock bird. The Pied one is really diturmined she contantly does that while I'm next to the cage, and Kiwi (the green one) Loved me in the first place. I don't know how to break them out of this or is it permanent?
August 12, 200916 yr Yes Jodie! That is definitely "come and hump me" behaviour Time to get your randy girls some boys to play with
August 12, 200916 yr Author If I bought one male for each of them would their be fights? Because I know that even if I got two males they may go for one Hen..... Grrr why are they so akward. But I still love them. Would anyone have any Idea on why they are liek this? I just found an egg on the floor of the cage, what should I do with it? Edited August 12, 200916 yr by Jodie
August 13, 200916 yr First your boy budies and now your girl budgies too...... what ARE whispering to them ...... mini egg on toast....... sorry couldn't help that. It'll be infertile with no boys around - you can just pop it in the bin. The hen won't miss it. Edited August 13, 200916 yr by nubbly5

She still won't really miss it. Best to remove it if it's infertile so she doesn't think she has to sit for 18 days to make it hatch. She'll probably lay a few more every couple of days too.
August 13, 200916 yr As Nubbly says ........toss the egg. And while you are about it, rearrange the cage and upgrade some toys....for distraction. Edited August 13, 200916 yr by KAZ
