Breeding?

Featured Replies

I want to breed my 2 budgies, but i dont know if their ready or not does anyone know when a pair is ready to breed?

The biggest question is: Are YOU ready?

I recall you asking if brother and sister should mate in an earlier post. You should not be inbreeding your birds. I highly recommend that you do some research before going into breeding and when you are educated and ready for it, find a pair of unrelated, healthy budgies that will do some justice to their species. If you properly research breeding you should find the answers to your questions. At least know the basics before jumping right into breeding. And again, please don't breed brother to sister.

I can't edit my last post so I'll just add to what I said here.

First of all, I'm sorry if I sound/sounded harsh in my first reply. I'm just thinking about the best interest of your budgies but sometimes I can come off a bit mean. Just know that I don't mean to be that way and I'm sorry if it sounded like that.

Also, it came to mind that you once posted about one of you budgies having difficulty flying and getting up and he was falling on his back? I just wanted to ask whatever came of that? Is he doing better now?

first of all 12 months minimum

the hens cere should be a light brown not dark brown as this is getting towards the end of the cycle

cocks cere blue deep blue

they should be full of life the hen should be chewing every thing the cock going from one perch to another

as devvle said if these are related then dont there is nothing to gain at all doing this with pet birds

Yea thats what has happend to my hen (speedy), her cere was whitey blue nows it has suddenly turned brown i have been waiting for 6 months for her cere to turn back to brown, and she has become agressive like trying to chew the perch. The cocks (sparkie) cere has always been deep blue but for some reason he never sings or speaks?
