Posted August 4, 200915 yr Hi all, been awhile but work gets in the way of a good time, all the time! My little 'chicken' isn't acting her normal self sits on the floor fluffed up. I left her for a day to see if she was eating etc still and she is in small amounts. Her faeces was balled up and dried to her bottom, which I've now cleaned up. Doesn't seem right and would like to know is it now time to seek a vet?
August 4, 200915 yr Yes, now is a very good time to see a vet. When a bird shows sick, it means they are really very sick. birds hide their symptoms very well until they are unable to hide them any more. I hope she pulls through for you.
August 4, 200915 yr Author So do I, she's my little girl as 'budget' has turned traitor and is prouldy sitting on my son's shoulder lol!!
August 5, 200915 yr Author She died this afternoon at the vet's. Vet thought it was a heart problem. No bill...I like that vet alot! Have just bought a new budgie as the new 'chook'. Piccy's soon.
August 5, 200915 yr Hmm...not sure about the vets diagnosis was he an avian vet? A heart attack is a sudden thing your bird was sick for a couple days, the ending result was a heart attack but what caused it sounds more like an infection somewhere in the body. Anyways, please keep the new bird you purchased quarnatine from your existing bird for at least 30 days. Quarantine means separate cage, separate room completely this ensures that neither bird is sick.
