Posted July 29, 200916 yr I am wondering how long to keep a pair in a breeding cage for? I have 4 paired up at the moment 2 pairs have been in for 2 weeks, not really doing much. The 2 other pairs are mating, chatting together, but no eggs, they have been in for a week. From the other post I'm reading and the FAQ's and search, it seems that it should happen fairly quickly? I am giving them extra veg, and crumble etc... These birds were "paired" in the avairy, meaning...always together, the cock feeding the hen etc.... I realize that all birds are different but, is there a rough time frame? I don't want to stress them out.... Thanks in advance Anne
July 30, 200916 yr The general amont of time is 21 days if no signs of breeding then the pair are removed, but if i see signs in a pair i really want to go down i'll leave up to 28 or so
July 30, 200916 yr 1 month is generally the limit... if nothing happen's by then, Then nothing happen's at all really... make sure you supply cuttlebone and other calcium supplement's.
July 30, 200916 yr 3-4 weeks is it for me too, but sometimes I have changed the cage location and the whole mood changes and I get results.
August 1, 200916 yr i agree with kaz it does sometimes depend on location and also depends and level of bondage and breeding cycle ( usually sevn weeks)
