Some Photos Of Django

He's not the most active bird, or much of a poser! I am amazed, however, at how close he lets the large black thing with glass and a loud clicky sound (yes, my camera is quite large) go near him.

Okay I'm off to bed, an hour after having downed the most potent drowsy cough syrup with the hope that I can actually get some deep sleep tonight. 3 nights of coughing makes one really grouchy.

Gorgerous photo's! Must be a very good camera! or an excellent operator! i can only dream of getting such great pics! well done! BOM???

he is so sweet, the quality of the pictures are very good :) i like his eyes

What is BOM? :)

EDIT: OH, I get it. "Brand or Model"? It's a Canon digital SLR (dSLR) that uses interchangeable lenses. I used my macro lens for this shot, it lets me get up close to capture details.

Thanks CSB he's usually sweet-natured but has been moulting rather heavily this week and is very snappy! These were shot last week before he got into his moult.

BOM actually stands for budige of the month

It is a competition we have where people enter their cutest picture of their budgie and each month we award a winner.

 Completely forgot.

Thanks, Hannah! I do a bit of photography on the side and have been taking photos for quite a while.

Hey alpaca-boy & Houman, thanks so much for your lovely comments! "Django" is pronounced with a silent D = "jango". The BF named him after the French gypsy musician, Django Reinhardt.

Alpaca, your budgies are so much more expressive than Django is... he tends to sit around staring into space and even if he's playing, he'll stop once the camera gets close. And photo composition is really a matter of practice, you have really great examples here and I've learnt that shooting more photos will lead to much improvement in that area! You have done well with a point-and-shoot. :)

By the way, I love the name "Alfalfa", and baby Alfalfa's colours!

Some camera specifics if you are interested: I use a Canon EOS 5D (link) - it's a 2005 model and is the version prior to the current 5D Mark II, which also shoots HD video! The lens is the 50mm compact macro f2.5. The reason why I shoot with a higher end camera is because I do professional photo work on the side: food, lifestyle and portraits. I need the full-frame capacity of the camera so that I can use my existing lenses without compromising on the 1.6x crop factor of cameras that are more consumer-focused.

Anyway... too much tech talk. If any of you are looking to start using dSLRs or want more info, I'm just a PM away. :gday:
