July 23, 200916 yr Very, very young. Just out of the nest I would say. Be very sure he is eating properly. Cute
July 23, 200916 yr Wow, yeah I agree with Kaz on how young. Make sure you quarantine and keep an eye on him. I would say he is a Dominant Pied Violet Cobalt, but it will be interesting to see him molt out and get his throat spots.
July 23, 200916 yr Author I dont expect him to eat much today, just because it's a new environment, but he has already vocalized. he does have a yellowface but I can't tell which type right now. he was panting a little in the pics but has stopped that and is over all acting more calm. his poops look fine too.
July 23, 200916 yr He looks tiny. I woudl be concerned having a bird so young away from parents. make sure you have some hand rearing mix, so he can have some soft food if needed.

Check his crop for evidence of eating.
July 24, 200916 yr WOW! He is a tiny little thing. Looks like he's the size of the bush budgies. He is lovely and i hope you can get him to settle in quick as he hasn't a lot of reserves on that slight body of his. Edited July 24, 200916 yr by **Liv**
July 24, 200916 yr Woah TINY! I went to the pet store today, and they had some new birds in. They were the smallest i had EVER seen, and i thought maybe they were babies, but they all had broken caps! I was shocked! My BABIES are bigger when they fledge!!
July 24, 200916 yr He sure is tiny, but my guess would be that he is old enough to of left the nest by the length of his tail feathers. As recommended give his crop a check for evidence of eating and put food all around for him, including fresh foods and scattered seeds.
July 24, 200916 yr Author he's got millet sprigs hanging by him, seeds, bird omlett and bird bread in cups and on a flat tray. he did have some millet this morning and has been vocalizing to the others.
August 11, 200916 yr Author so the question remains, is he cobalt or violet? also in certian light his eyes look dark plum, assuming it's not just a strange reflection, would this mean he's split to cinnamon or something else? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/rou...k/birds/017.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/rou...k/birds/020.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v215/rou...k/birds/022.jpg
August 11, 200916 yr He looks to me that he's a yellow faced type 2 possibly and I think he's cobalt. Hope I could help
