I just got a violet pied hen, always wanted this colour....Just wanted to know if anyone could give me a rough age>>>> I'm guessing 6 months about.

Also is she a dominate pied???

she is definatly past her first moult, I know that. I cant tell but it looks like here cere is darkening up. 6 months sounds right, but I'm no expert, wait and see what the experts say! :hug:

she is spangled

i dont think dominant but need closer picture of her face and better picture of back to tell YOU anything else

you cant just go on cere colouration for age can you please get nice head shot and a back shot cheers

she looks to me like a dominant pied violet spangle.... and yes looks roughly 6 months old to me... past it's first moult thats for sure.

looks can be deceving

she doesnt seem to have iris rings need to see her back to conferm if she dom or rec

lol kaz thats so funny lol i thought i was just getting old and needed glasses

 

soz nowbudgie but it really is hard when details so small

we really need to see the birds in 4 angles frount sides back and head face shots always good aswell i do think its not just dom pie so untill pics cant help

With the classic banding of a dominant pied that she is along with being an opaline, I also think she may be a spangle but a better view of the back of the wings would be wonderful :hug:.

 

Right now I say an Opaline Dominant Pied (possible spangle)

i would say same as elly if i could see her but her eyes dont seem to have rings which means

a ) she is not a dom and a heavy marked full wing marked spangle opaline rec pie or that she is very young

not near 6 months so... im not saying anything defenant till i get better look and im only guessing opaline may be just spangle winging ????

she is a classic marked dom though in looks

greywing dom pied spangle and maybe opaline as well.

Dominant Pied Opaline Spangle Cobalt or whichever order I should be writing that in!!!!!!! Cobalt Opaline Dominant Pied Spangle if you like....... Such a beautiful even band, she's probably actually an Australian Dominant Pied (or Banded Pied) Opaline Spangle Cobalt.

okay i think myself that she is as follows

spangled australian banded pied in violet

nothing more nothing less

oh i i dont think she is more than say 10 weeks old

or daz did a post a bit back with a little rec pied spangle hen this is the thing she looks banded but i trully think she is rececive but cause that picture shows she is young im saying banded but if she does not get iris rings in 6 months time

she has to be a rececive pied i dont care what anyone says

Cobalt Dominant Pied Spangle

I don't think it is a violet personally it is a cobalt.

You can see she is not an opaline now in the new pics.

I would say she is probably around 4 months old.

I would say 3-4 months old that is 12 wks to 16 wks old not less so the bird will be going through the first molt soon

Im sorry if Im "butting in" on this post.....but please explain a "Australian" dom pied????

Australian dom. pied is what is normally just called dom. pied. there is another type of dom. pied called dutch dom. pied or more commonly known as clearflight dom.pied.
