Raspberry Vinegar

Featured Replies

Hi, I've been reading through some old topics and found one about raspberry cordial being good for birds. I already give my birds apple cider vinegar but I have in my pantry some raspberry vinegar and I was wondering if that would be better for them? It's ingredients are raspberries, vinegar and sugar.

I don't think there is lots of it around, I got it from a berry farm that has raspberry wines, vinegars and other different things as well as the normal jams and sauces.

How raspberry cordial and apple vinegar both work is that they are mild acids (citric acid and acetic acid), they lower the pH of the gut (making it more acidic) so that certain things especially fungi (like megabacteria) are less able to survive in it. I imagine raspberry vinegar would do the same thing since it would also be some form of mild acid, but I don't think that it would be better or worse than the others alone. I'm guessing it would cost a lot more, so maybe best stick with the others.

Thanks, that all makes more sense to me now. Yes the raspberry vinegar was about $8 for a 400ml bottle I'll keep it for people then.
