Posted July 13, 200915 yr Hi Everyone, I'm Jodie, I live in Richmond NSW and we have 4 budgies, which we thought were all male until yesterday!! I noticed one on top of the other and so now it seems we have a female and 3 males. Any tips on this would be great, but in saying that I will check out the other topics and I will surely find something to help. Nice to be here and look forward to meeting you all.
July 13, 200915 yr Hi and welcome to the forums. Just because 1 was on top of the other, doesn't always mean you have a female... if you can post some close up photos of them, we can help you with their sex. Again, welcome...
July 13, 200915 yr Mating is recreational budgie sex pure and simple. They can mate all they like and rarely produce eggs from mating ( budgie sex ) unless we give them somewhere to both lay eggs and raise a family. If they are under age ( under 12 months ) its your responsibility to make sure there is NOWHERE they will see as a nesting site.......newspaper on the floor of cage that can be shredded, or large food dishes. A lot of people think mating means eggs and they put a nestbox on regardless of age. if they are underage and you have made sure there is nothging they can see as a nesting site, just ignore the behaviour and reduce their daylight hours.

The other 3 have very light coloured ceres. we dont have any recent photos at the moment but will try and organise some.Mating is recreational budgie sex pure and simple.
