Posted July 13, 200916 yr hello again well with aug September still a fair way off i decided i had 4 empty breeding cages empty and ready for use and just happens i have a few pairs ready to go so i decided to put them up ,while i wait for my chicks in nest to grow that way as per normal i will have babys hatching as babys are leaving nests this keeps me continuously with something to do so first pair i put down is as follows a gf cobalt domanant pie hen (with normal wing markings ) to a spangle vishual violet cock expected out come will be as bellow 50 percent spangle 50 percent normal 50 percent domanant pied 50 percent normal colours being : violet skyblue, skyblue, cobalt, violet cobalt, mauve and violet mauve at least one to two chicks being golden face but possably more then i have a mauve opaline dominant pie hen to a skyblue (normal wing markings)split for opaline and split for rececive pie that should producess me : 50 percent visual violets 50 percent cobalts of the following mutations 50 percent opaline 50 percent normal with 25 percent being cocks split for opaline 25 percent being opaline (cocks that is ) 25 percent normal hens and 25 percent opaline hens ..........but wait theirs more ! as the hens mother and father are both split for rececive pie as is the cock she is with that could mean that i get a few if not more or at least one rececive pied in this clutches out come (if she got rec gene passed on ) then my 1 factor violet skyblue cinnamon opaline hen in frount then cinnamon (normal wing ) violet mauve split lacewing split opaline cock on right looking at you this will give me all cinnamon 50 percent visual violets 50 percent cobalts of the following mutations 50 percent opaline 50 percent normal with 25 percent being cocks split for opaline 25 percent being opaline (cocks that is ) 25 percent normal hens and 25 percent opaline hens and lacewing hens i hope then last pair is a golden face cinnamon opaline 1 factor violet dominant pied hen and a skyblue (normal wing) split for cinnamon ,opaline and rececive pied these pair will give me same rezults as the mauve pairing with the rececive pie out come a posability as the goldenface hens father was split rec pied as is her partner (again if she got the gene passed ) 50 percent visual violets 50 percent cobalts of the following mutations 50 percent opaline 50 percent normal with 25 percent being cocks split for opaline 25 percent being opaline (cocks that is ) 25 percent normal hens and 25 percent opaline hens .....also cinnamon cocks and hens normal hens all cocks that apear normal will b split cinnamon got to be happy with that i cant wait pretty sure thats all corect
July 13, 200916 yr Author are you sure that the hen in pair one is a dominant pied, not a recessive pied? yes dav it is dominant pied mate it is badly marked as its father was a rec pie mum a df dom pie the to doms are full blood sisters the golden face ones they do have iris rings Edited July 13, 200916 yr by GenericBlue
July 13, 200916 yr Author you see when you mix rec pie and dom pie genes some times the birds markings become displased as you would know dave and some time they dont get iris rings or only one eye has them its not the done thing to do but i dont mind as these are for colour out come and prettyness not for anyother reason if i was going to breed doms for show whicch one day i may just i wouldnt have a rec pie in miles of it or visa versa if i was going to breed rec pied for show if a dom is split rec pied as well if put with a rec pied or a split for rec pied bird you can get rec pieds and doms in one nest as well as with the split rec pie you also get norms in mix
July 13, 200916 yr then i have a mauve opaline dominant pie hen to a skyblue (normal wing markings)split for opaline and split for rececive pie that should producess me : 50 percent visual violets 50 percent cobalts of the following mutations 50 percent opaline 50 percent normal with 25 percent being cocks split for opaline 25 percent being opaline (cocks that is ) 25 percent normal hens and 25 percent opaline hens ..........but wait theirs more ! okay i have do this and i got 3 pieds and 1 normal but the pieds look like recessive pieds but with ring's on the eyes Edited July 22, 200916 yr by KAZ

July 29, 200916 yr Author okay dom mauve pie hen 2 eggs today df dom pie 2 eggs dom pie norm 4 eggs cin dom pie 4 eggs all is well all hens sitting after first egg fingers cross their all good mums i have fosters on had in case Do your foster's have egg's/baby's of their own? what i do matt dog is i put up birds i want to breed with and at same time i put up birds that i have wouldnt mind chicks from but lays large clutches say 7 to eight eggs then as all my birds lay on same days or next day as you can see here in my post all the birds lay together meaning all chicks around same ages when hatching two foster hens per few pairs the fosters are birds i know are spot on layers so i pair them up a week in advance to other birds they are also birds i never seprerate they stay with same mate for life in my flock so when i see the other birds ready then i put them all down (remembering i watch who is in condition closely ) the fosters start laying usually two to three days before my other birds so if i need a foster their is two to choose from but its not often that i do they get to raise all their own chicks unless some one has troubble feeding they not really their for any other reason than a respite mum for hens needing help feeding chicks i will stick a chick in for a top up from fosters if i feel mum not doing to good then once feed back with mum as fosters fill the chicks soon as i place them in so they dont always need to stay with foster its hard to explain really but its always worked for me i used a foster to let my lacewing have a first clutch recently foster had 8 eggs lacewing had 5 all clear so i moved the clear egg out and replaced with five fertile due one same days as her own she raised them all hatched them perfict and now i wont have problems when i want to breed her for her true peruse show birds .so they come in many uses i save 4 chicks from madien hens that didnt know what to do with the new one by getting respite feeds then handing the chicks back few days latter as the foster chicks were two days old but pet type so small the bigger birds got the idea second chicks were fed and fosters got their own chick back once i see new mum fed seconed chick then mum gets her own baby back all happy just need very good book work matt dog but matt first time i have really used them was my first failed atempt at show size birds of not show standeds like a try run lol see what im in for .
