I had been trying ages to register here, finally got it sorted. My new email did not like this websites registration email and rejected them all... so I changed back to my old one. But I have probably read half the site by now and am jealous of all your pictures!

I am not new to budgies... just to breeding and SHOW budgies. Ive bred chickens for years for showing, and have a few other companion parrots, and will soon be breeding ringnecks and alexandrines, if all goes to plan.

You will be wanting pictures then I suppose of my small start up flock. I don't know, they are not too bad... some are off show lines, breeders culls I picked up for $15 - $30 through a local pet shop. Not a flashy shop... but a couple of good staff in there who know a few things including the breeder. I am about to send my form in for the shoalhaven budgie club on monday so hopefully that will be a big help to me.

I have mostly greens of various hues, a couple of spangles, couple of pieds, some I have no idea what they are.... I have a few 'pet types' I got for the colours. The greens are probably the most 'boring' colour wise (no offence to green fans) they are growing on me, they just seem to have the best type and size from what I had avaliable.

Let me work on pics... I am a NOOBIE be patient

Sarah.

Ps... Kazz if you read this YOUR BIRDS ARE GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I have become a fan from all the pics I have seen such cute bubs, would love to chat with you.

Hello, and Welcome to the forum...

I agree KAZ Does have nice birds..

I only have a couple of pics of 2 of my budgies up yet.

This is Sunny and Raja Not sure if she is cremino or double factor spangle... she was much younger in these pics. The darker one I think is a black eyed self, but correct me if he is not.

Hi Crysal_feather.....and welcome,

Beautiful birds.....

What colour are the cream budgies eyes?

Does the darker one have iris rings?

Sunny's eyes are plum, I have another girl like her, only small though. Raja has jet black eyes, no ring. He has grown since that picture, would be my biggest male in length of body. I have olive green males with wider heads and longer masks, bit more boof but I like Raja

okay, I'm going with Raja is a DILUTE, as BES's have an iris ring.. :P

Be interesting what the more experienced members think...

He could be, I am no expert yet lol. I like him whatever he is, don't see many down here like that.

C_F, yes I have one nearly the same and she is beautiful too......

The rainbow is Peppi, I hand raised him. The scaly is Poco, he was an aviary bird but became tame overnight. Just dosn't sit in hands, he will play with hands and toys but won't sit on you.

Hi Sarah, i love rainbows having nursed a young one my dog found in a bush after most likely getting hit by a car. He really appreciated my help and was landing on my arm after a couple of days. I successfully released him after five days but during during that time I was to marvel at his amazing colors. How tame do they get?

I don't know how good the budgies are, the big boofheads looked good to me, and I only paid $15 each for them. But I think they might be a bit small, but a good place to start. I thought they had good heads and they are bigger than my others. Im not in a rush to start showing yet.

The other smaller ones I just got for their colours, I will always have little ones aswell with interesting colours just for the love of seeing them.

Well Peppi my rainbow, how tame is he? He comes when called, we play tug of war with toys and rags, he lays on his back to have his belly scratched, rolls over, plays dead, is obsessed with yelling my name all day, my body and head is a gymnasium to him, and I roll around on the floor and he chases after me. I make my hand into a claw and he runs into it and we have wrestling games. They get super tame, like a dog. But you have to get used to them trying to pick your nose and stick their tongues in your ear. The squirty poo is the main downside. They aim at things for fun and fire to see if they hit it, like a feathered super soaker.
