Posted June 26, 200915 yr I am getting a little sick of the amount of people who don't get quarantine who make a big deal out of it. "What - is your other bird STILL in quarantine? But it's not actually sick right? Don't you think it's been long enough already?" "Quarantine-- why did you buy a sick bird?" "Awww come on please put them together, they look healthy enough, I want to see them play together" "Can't you just put them near each other so I can see what they do when they see each other for the first time?" and so on :grbud: I am sure you have all had the same experiences. I don't really know why someone who has no experience in bird keeping thinks that it is crazy or overprotective or strange to do something with their birds they've never heard of being done before -- as people with no interest in birds, would they expect to know best about what do with a new bird?
June 27, 200915 yr Yeah, it can be annoying at times. Everyone l know thinks l'm crazy for loving a budgie. They also thought that l was silly to quarantine my previous budgies :grbud:
June 27, 200915 yr I agree lol a lot of people don't get it but I tell them did you know zoo's quarantine all the time, in fact a avian vet will tell you 90 days not the 30 days that we generally do.
June 30, 200915 yr Just like to agree i have quarantined two birds over the last three months, yes friends think I'm over the top. But I have a mate that has birds and he does'nt quarantine and I have told him many times that he will get into troulbe. Yes and he has, but still want listen. So you can only advise, its up to them, as hard as that may be.
June 30, 200915 yr Hey don't worry I have a sick Eckkie and people keep asking me "Does Elmo and Willow get along?" yeah cause I am going to put a bird with Worms, Thrust and Bac infections near my nice healthy bird!
