just went outside to check on a chick thts mother has hatched out two more and decided to stop feeding oldest so i putt it in my pet type foster nest butt she just hatched a chik and refused it checked 2 hours later and was still not fed so putt it in another foster nest with other hen same ol same ol so i moved it to a nest were the hens eggs are due tomorrow morning first 1 in hope she would feed this was at 1:30 today just had tea went to check all the birds for the night looked in it was dead butt with all dead chiks i gave it a blow as u do and to my amazement it revived my rearing mix had become damp unaware to me so now am left with nothing to feed nd no mother to take under advice from a breeder i stuk it in my braa against my **** were its happily sitting alive prob now is wat to feed ??? all i have milk,3 different sugars,caster,raw,norm,vegimite,rasberry cordial, thts bout it its chirping nd needs food plz help !!! survo across road wat do i need to get by the way ill be matchstik feeding or can i do it with wats in my cubboard .

Go see if the servo has yoghurt (depends if its a grocery servo also) if not then your gonna have to go to coles or woolworth's to get some yoghurt, as supermarkets wont sell handrearing mixture, they MIGHT sell lorikeet wet mix though, but im not good with knowing what to feed the chicks, i was always told to tap a drop of yoghurt in their mouth and let them eat it

Baby cereal...heinz dry mix multigrain will do in place of handrearing formula, or anything babyfood in ajar...meat and vegies etc etc . The servo should have something like that.

I understand you cant put it anywhere now its dark. Do the best you can keeping it warm and safe and fed. Think about fostering tomorrow.

Do you have a heat mat? ...if so then set up a cardboard box, and cover the bottom with oats or something like that and keep the heat mat under it for a little while, be sure to keep a close eye on him during the time the heat mat is on, i would suggest keeping it on for 15 - 20 mins then taking it off, should be enough to warm up the oats and keep him warm for the time being ....

 

but i think your gonna have to dedicate the night to him...make sure he's nice and full when you go to bed, and then check up on him through the night regularly to make sure its not too cold etc...

You cannot tell. Try a thinner mixture.

Keep at it ... can't help on the possible blockage as they are so tiny at that age .... but keep feeding it and cross your fingers.

wont have problem keeping it warm my house is like an oven always as i hav nerve damage if anything it mite overheat as far as the food i have kept feeding its crop is not filling its gasping for air its been eating on its own choice uit was chirping before i fed it after i revived it do they need water possibly the onlythin at servo was baby lamb nd veg warmed it up added boild water as it was too thik could it just need sleep ?

i no its a stupid question as i no wat there ment to look like butt it dosent look hoew it should the chik was druleing on me before i fed it dose it take while to fill or am i being impatiant its bin 5 mins should i leave for while nd try in 30 mins? i wont sleep tonite havnt slept for days so wont be nothing new plan to feed every half hour is tht too mutch for a 4 day old other idea is should i just bring in a breeding pair with chicks putt it in the box nd chek every 30 mins until fed ??

well little fella didnt make it

the hen didnt even atempt to feed it yet when i placed another chick in just to see what her story was she fed right their and then

so i can only say that it was this little beings time and no amount of effort would have over rode that fact in the long turm

i did all i could apart from staying home for next week feeding it every half hour ect ect

i went got rearing mix last night got taxi to street and back

but im afraid even if i had of saved it

it would have died regardless so ..........
