okay, so from a green dad and a blue opaline mum you got 2 blues, 1 green and an albino?

Are these guys colony bred? If they are, then this is all speculation, but if not, here is my take on it.

You Albino has to be a hen, and for you to get an albino, then Dad has to be a green/albino.

Mum is a standard blue.

This means that the youngsters are these

Green is male or female and is split blue

Blues are male. If Dad is split albino, and he passed this gene onto hens, then they would all be albino's as the ino gene is recessive.

Albino is a hen.

Is my take right on this?

I would like to see more pics of the blue opaline spanlge hen you have. She looks a bit like Dumb and Dumber.

in the yellow face's nest, is that an opaline with the white fuzz?

Also Dave, the blue up the top of my first picture is opaline as well i think. not just standard blue.

oh, misread it :P she's one of my best hen's, i thought she was violet opaline at first, she hints it on the back of her neck

The opaline spangle is a lovely hen, I wish I had quality like that in my aviary, nice work :P

which one is the opaline spangle? the one that dave was talking about?

  • Author

Woot! :P the mother is a T2YF cobalt opaline violet, and the father is a double factor yellow spangle (Green series)

So i will be happy with a few opaline baby's :)

This is the opaline spangle I was talking about, she is a nice looking bird. One of the ways you can tell if a chick is normal or opaline in the nest is by the colour of its down. White down means its an opaline chick, grey down means its normal.

I would say the clutch you are talking about is going to be VERY interesting! Such a mixture of colours it will be very interesting to see what comes out!

I might start a thread soon similar to what the other member i saw a few weeks ago had, like a day 12-42 growth progression topic. cause i expect some beautiful chicks out of this nest coming up.
